In this article we will show you how you can improve Google campaigns using automated rules

Every day we go into our Google campaigns and look for ways to improve, whether in the keywords we have defined, search terms, audiences, increase by hand or decrease by hand, and quite a few other data that we go through every day.

So how can we reduce our working time? Or at least facilitate it and let Google notify us of changes that we will configure in advance through automatic rules.

So if you do Advertising on Google Whether on low budgets of hundreds of shekels a day or thousands of shekels, this is the article for you to know how to significantly improve your campaigns and at the same time save significant time in campaign management.

What are automatic rules?

As they are, rules that we will define for Google whether at the campaign level, ad group, keyword, audiences and more, and do what we ask of them, from what Google offers us in the settings in the rules. It is possible to request that an email be sent to us as soon as a rule that we have configured is activated and, of course, to perform an action automatically.

For example:

Let's say that the purchase cost we are aiming for is 20 shekels, we can set an automatic rule that will raise the quote for that keyword that earns us by 15% if in the last 7 days the same phrase has yielded us a purchase cost of 15 shekels or less.

In the following form we do not miss a phrase that works great for us and yields us quality conversions with a conversion cost that we are happy with so why not increase the hand by another 15%..

Here are some ideas for automated rules that can help you:

  • Delay of campaigns that reach a certain budget
  • The budget can be increased on specific days of the week
  • The stalling of keywords whose performance is not good
  • Campaign termination on a specific date — for example, this is great for promotional events
  • Keyword bid adjustments as I will demonstrate in this article
  • BID ADJUSTMENTS ACCORDING TO AN AUDIENCE THAT PERFORMS WELL AND ONE THAT PERFORMS LESS WELL

The advantage of using automatic rules:

Automated rules can save us a lot of time.

Instead of sitting down and spending time making changes that we make according to fixed rules, regularly, we can enter our rules in Google's system, configure them, schedule them for when we want and enjoy efficiency at times.

We basically automate some of our day-to-day operations, but is it living and forgotten? Absolutely not.

Although we have defined the rules that we want, we must monitor that it has been carried out and done properly.

How do we create rules for Google campaigns?

Rules can be set through the campaign and, accordingly, can also be set in the area of the account where you are
Select the desired element” and then edit” Automatic rule creation

You can also go to the tab at the top of the account “Tools and Settings” and under “Bulk actions” clicking on “Rules” will take you to the appropriate page.

You have reached the section of your account where you can see all the rules that you have defined in your campaigns.
Here we will begin to define the rules that will help us manage and monitor the account better and, of course, also improve it.

Pressing the+button

Once clicked, a window will open for us with a variety of options related to the selection of the desired rule that we want to configure to be activated

For the demonstration here we will select the rules for keywords

We will name the automatic rule so that we identify it every time it is activated

Now we will select which action we want to happen once the rule is activated according to what we will define it next — for the demo I will choose here by sending to email

Here we can define what rule we want according to our campaign and we can also, of course, for each campaign define some rules that will help us manage the account.

Let's just say and I spend 300 shekels a day in this campaign and it is important for me to follow every keyword if the previous day it exceeded the purchase cost of over 35 shekels

You can, of course, set a minimum of impressions or clicks at the beginning of each campaign, all depending on the search volumes of those keywords

Here I will define how long I want to be alerted to my email in case the rule will be activated with what I have configured

Then I will configure the email to which I want to receive the data and notifications

There are quite a few automatic rules that can be set that will make it easier for you, in the end you will do what you see fit to help you with the campaigns you manage.

3 tips for using automated rules:

Always check the system: Yes, these rules are called automatic rules. But although they are automatic we must make sure they have been carried out by the system as we have set them up. In the end, we manage money here and it is important to check every action that is done on the account.

Not everything can be automated: Before you automate any rule, it is important that you check it many times until you can determine that it can indeed be an automatic rule. Some things can never be automated.

Adding supplementary rules: Some of the rules we define are, for example, take a budget off a campaign whose ROI is down, or take a budget off a campaign whose conversion cost has gone up, and so on. The defense is excellent. But what about situations where campaigns work excellently? It is also important to define these situations, in which the campaigns begin to work excellently.

So if we make a rule that lowers the campaign budget when it doesn't work well, on the other hand, we want to establish a rule that will raise the campaign budget when it works great.
